Healthy Homes compliance is an ongoing responsibility. The final compliance deadline was 1 July 2025. Rental properties must now meet the standards unless an applicable exemption covers the property or a particular requirement. A new building or an earlier assessment should not be treated as proof that every current obligation has been met.
Each standard has detailed criteria and some have specific exemptions. Use Tenancy Services’ Healthy Homes resources for the full requirements. A brief summary cannot determine compliance for an individual home.
Exemptions have conditions. They may cover only part of a standard or apply for a limited period. Keep evidence of the basis for any exemption and record it as required in the tenancy documentation. Shared ownership or restricted access does not automatically remove every obligation. Read the official exemption guidance and obtain advice for the property’s circumstances.
New, renewed or varied tenancy agreements must include the required information about the property’s current Healthy Homes compliance. Retain relevant assessment details, work records and documents supporting the statement. Review the position after alterations or when equipment, insulation or drainage needs attention.
Meeting the standards is more than keeping a report in a folder. Investigate reported faults, leaks, dampness or ineffective heating and arrange appropriate assessment or repairs. Tenants can use our maintenance request route for ordinary repairs and the emergency information for urgent situations.
Ray White Silverdale’s property management team can discuss your rental and the information needed for management. Bring existing assessments and records, and agree any assessment, repair coordination and costs with the team. This discussion is not a compliance certificate or a promise that every issue has been found.
